Silicon Heroes

By: Jeff Gaus

"In homage to The Kinks’ Celluloid Heroes, I acknowledge and honor the “Silicon Heroes” I met earlier this week at the Northwest Electronics Design & Manufacturing Exposition. The speakers, exhibitors, and the attendees are the people who make the “stuff” that make our electronic lives work. These are the silicon heroes.

Printed circuit boards, connectors, cable assemblies, packaging, test and measurement equipment, testing labs, community colleges, and universities….all integral parts of the semiconductor & microelectronics supply chain.

When forming the PCN, our thinking was inspired and informed by the “I-pencil” essay and the insights it provided. It offers a great framework to use when thinking about society, commerce, and supply chains.

After this week, whenever I interact with anything electronic, I will be thinking of the “silicon heroes” I met this week. Thank you Silicon Heroes for making it possible.
